Established in 2001, the .NAME generic top-level domain name extension is the only one supposed to be for personal websites only. These domain names can be personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are popular by. At the beginning, only 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you wished to buy john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed 3rd-level names remained online.

You will have the opportunity to switch the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an existing domain to our company if you acquire its EPP transfer authorization code from the current registrar firm and we will renew it after the transfer has been completed. There are no special rules on who can grab a .NAME domain, but in order to maintain the goal behind its establishment alive, the Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration could be challenged.
