Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is intended to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message is sent from one address, but to look as being sent from a different, usually with the purpose to scam the recipient someway. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, a special record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all DNS servers worldwide have it. The record contains all of the e-mail servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is sent to the target receiver. If, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the specified domain, the message won't be submitted and it will be discarded. In the event that you use this solution, it will prevent third parties from sending spam emails which seem to have been sent from you.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

You are able to activate the SPF protection option for your domains with a few clicks from the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all our Linux shared hosting. This is done from the section bearing the same name and you'll be able to enable the protection for each domain on our advanced cloud platform. Using a really user-friendly interface, all you need to type in is the hostname of the mail server which will be accredited to send messages from your e-mail addresses and its IPv4 or IPv6 address. Last, but not least, it is possible to include several servers as well, when needed. In case your e-mails are managed on our end, you may also employ an even more secure option by setting a restriction that emails can be sent only when your domains feature our MX records. This solution can't be used when your site is hosted with us, while your emails are with a third-party provider. Either way, the SPF protection solution will significantly improve your web safety and prevent other people from spoofing your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to protect your email addresses by activating the SPF security service for any domain hosted in your account with just a couple of clicks. This is done from the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with these issues, you will not have any trouble to activate the protection. All that you will have to do is to select a domain name from a drop-down list and then type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the new record propagates, messages from your e-mail addresses will be sent around the world only if they were sent from that specific server. If your email addresses are handled by us and not by a third-party provider, you can also use an option for emails to be mailed only if the domain has our MX records and the latter would be the most secure option.
